clairhardesty Pillar of the Community United States 1027 Posts	Posted 10/11/2016 12:31 am Since this is a 1981 SBA, this looks like a type 1 to me. The 1981 type 2 should have a pronounced top serif and yours appears virtually absent. Report this Post to the Staff

Different die, different die states, and die damage are common, even among proof coins. An excellent reference for images of coin varieties is the PCGS price guide.
