Came across this listing on ebay.

In the photos, he claims these coins are 91.7% Silver.
$20-For-$20-Not-99.9%-Silver?

Is there any legitimacy to these claims or is this a case of a kuku?

i really doubt his numbers, one of the 20 for 20's he is saying is 85%, and one is 90%.

One wouldn't expect the RCM to be off 10% or .01%

I can smell the bull dung that he stepped in... and I would call that bluff...

I would pit his measuring and specific gravity measurements against my XRF and quantitative SEM in my lab at work... anytime... even if he was using a Mettler Balance.

I use the $20 for $20 coins and silver maple leaf coins sometimes, as a means to run a quality control test on my instruments. Sometimes the XRF detector can get "flooded" by primary peak signals and create false secondary signals - so using RCM $20 for $20 coins or a silver maple leaf are a good measurements that all is well...

EVERY SINGLE ONE I have tested from the RCM in the past 7 years, is 100% silver.

I wonder what the seller thinks makes up the rest of the weight.

His listing does not explain the nature of the tests that determined, allegedly, the silver purity. Also, people can make mistakes in tests. So it is reasonably safe to discount this claim pending proof.

I'm not sure I understand the reason for including any of his "information" in the ad. Does he think having less silver will make them more valuable? Like an an error?
There certainly seems to be at least one error here, but I don't think it's with the coin. After reading the description of the coin, where he talks about his testing, I'm going to have to assume the coin is a regular, .9999 pure silver coin. I especially like the end of the item description where it says, "But I make no claim as to authenticity of these items, so I provide due diligence".

Too many variables in home SG testing.
Not very scientific.
All you can tell by a home SG measurement of 10.38 is that the coin is likely sterling or better.
