@Silveroid,
Congratulations on getting the penny set! I am on the 3 payment plan too so I won't see it for a while.
I think it is a great set, you won't regret it. For a 7 oz set for $710 you can't go wrong as it works out to $101 per oz, much cheaper than some 1 oz coins that go for $149.95.

You can't go wrong at $700 for 7 oz of silver? $100/oz is a good deal? It may be cheaper than other $150 1 oz coins, but those are also insanely over priced as well. The new $3 2017 spirit of Canada is 1/4oz for $20 or $80/oz (4coins). The $/oz is completely irrelevant with NCLTs. If you're in it for the silver, you can buy around 30 silver maples or 3 10oz bars for around the same price. In the distant future, the buillion will be worth far more.

With this new penny release, I think it's time to sell all my 2012 farewell to the penny coins.

Thank you for good word, New! My concern, is that amount of these keepers increases... was surprised, btw, that RCM didn't put any limit for ordering these sets. isn't it strange? Guessing, that the item will not be interesting to overseas collectors, Canada and US mainly

They don't seem to care who buys them or how many one buys, as long as they sell out.

If you're a penny collector, this is definitely the set to get imo.

I love the look of this set, but the price tag has me on the fence.
I own the legacy of the nickel set, which I bought 6 months after release for $150 less than issue, and this would compliment it really well.
I could buy two farewell to the penny sets and have money to spare for this price.
Does anyone know of any dealers taking preorders for the set?

When made purchase, they also proposed 2 payments (and not 3) , but this depends on budget. Quote: With this new penny release, I think it's time to sell all my 2012 farewell to the penny coins. Wait with this, Redzapsid. The 2012 will be always special "Farewell year", while of the future releases will be "anniversary", "tribute", etc

Every year out of the coin a day issues about 5 to 10 are winners or OK, this set is probably one of them, maybe a bit high in mintage and starting to over do the tribute theme. I will be surprised to see this set double in short term value.

There are 18 sets available on the RCM site if anyone missed out yesterday.

Just an observation --- noticing how RCM has really raised the spending bar of appealing interest beginning in Sept, moving toward the close of their year end. No more are measly $130-$160 coins the topic of much discussion here. Instead - 2016 gold delta 2017 big coin 2017 penny set

Star Trek's 50th and Canada's 150th. That gives them a great opportunity to gouge the public. Which is wrong. Boo to RCM.

RCM is a for profit corporation. If people continue to buy overpriced items with trademarked logos (superman, Star Trek, loonie tunes, etc.), of course the mint will continue to make more.
