This is not my area of expertise, I could use the help of the forum experts and members on this 1787 Fugio Cent.

I do not see an obverse cross after date, last 7 is near gone, looks like pointed rays and States-United reverse.

Grade-Variety opinions? Thanks! RK

Never have seen a grading discussion on this issue, but I'll venture VF/EF range.

This appears to be a Newman 9-P in Fine condition at first glance. It would be an early die state and is listed in Whitman as URS-10 in rarity, and books at $800 in Fine-12. This coin might make Fine -15. URS-10 means more than 250 and less than 500 examples known which is an R-3 on the Sheldon scale. As colonials go this would be "less common" but not at all scarce. Whitman notes twelve were in the Bank of New York Hoard in 1948. Nice!

Nice looking coin.

Sounds like Pistareen has a lot of knowledge on these.

There are a few other expert on early coppers .. maybe the too
will offer a opinion.

I don't see anything that screams fake ... I like how it looks.

Knowing the weight might help .....

I would grade this Fugio as a VF-20. The weakness in date is a strike or die issue. These coins were made on a device called s drop press. The top die was hoisted up and then dropped on the planchet. Uneven strikes are not unusual. The color and surfaces are nice too.
