Just got back from a local coin auction. There were three ASE China fakes, all of different dates.

A couple of collectors were commenting on how nice they looked.

I advised the auctioneer that they were easily identified as fakes, but he still sold them with a "let the buyer beware" attitude.

The only reason that there so many Chinese (and other) counterfeit coins here is because there are people here who import them for the purpose of selling then at "too good to be true" prices to under-educated buyers. It is not only civil fraud but criminal as well. Probably the best way to limit this scourge is what we here already do, provide a forum that enlightens us all.
