Anyone ever see this before? I recently purchased a 1976 silver quarter. part of the edge is fairly sharp. I got this as to use as a pocket piece to wear down to match other quarters in a set so I might try to wear this down first to make it wear evenly. in the last pic you can see where the rim should be on the edge

it was in a 2x2. I took it out and put it in my pocket. later I was fiddling with it and noticed that it was more uncomfortable than it should have been
As BH1964 said that is known as a finned rim and is caused by metal squeezing up between the neck of the die and the collar. This can happen from excessive pressure or sometimes from a misaligned die. (die is misaligned in one direction resulting in extra space between the neck of the die and the collar in the other direction allowing the fin to form.)
