I am not a big fan of ancients being slabed, just seems wrong to me for then to be in a case never to be touched again. However when it comes to things like Owl Tetradrachm or Alexander The Great coins I was wondering if a grading company like ICG could be trusted to slab only authentic coins. I am pretty new and would be nervous to buy a raw one online, but thought an ICG one might be a safe way to be sure to get a real one, but then I could free it once it was mine and not have to pay a large premium for the slab. Can graders like ICG and ANACS be trusted to slab mostly real coins. I know NGC ancient slabs do not gurentee authenticity, but I know NGC would do the best they could to not slab a fact. Thanks for the help. I will probably just buy more expensive coins at shows, but it was an idea I had if I sae one at a good price online. I know there is also vcoins that tries there best to keep facts off their store.

NGC is the only company that slabs ancient coins and they do not guarantee that it's genuine. Slabbing ancient coins is a waste of money IMO. I would rather have a high end coin certified by David Sear or other noted experts than have the coin slabbed by NGC. I would not buy high end coins from ebay unless I know the dealer, Stick to Vcoins.
Rest in Peace

The provenance (where it came from) of an ancient coin is more full proof in insuring the "real deal".

Most (the vast majority) of dealers who make ancients their main business are the most reputable sources for great ancients.

Save the receipts when you buy them from these folks and that proof is worth every bit as much (if not more) than a "slab".
