Its here, the most anticipated coin of the year. Available to Master Club Prestige and Platinum Plus members right now. Its the second in the series of renewed Silver Dollars. The first last year was the renewed Voyageur silver dollar which was a big hit, sold out in less than one day, selling for 3x or 4x the issue price on ebay. Last years mintage was 2200 and this year increased to 2500 coins. Specifications: - 2 oz pure silver with selective gold plating - $189.95 - 50 mm width - 2500 mintage According to the RCM info, this coin commemorate 4 events. 1. 140th anniversary of the completion of the Library of Parliament. 2. 40th anniversary of the 1876-1976 proof silver dollar celebrating the Library of Parliament centennial. 3. The 10th anniversary of the conservation, rehabilitation, and upgrade of the Library of Parliament 4. 100th anniversary of the 1916 fire that gutted the Centre Block of Parliament, sparing the library. It looks like this 1976 silver dollar except for the date. The new coin is dated 1876-2016.

In my opinion, the reason a 1976 NCLT commemorate dollar was chosen for Renewal is utterly baffling because that opens up the series to dozens upon dozens of possibilities. For anyone who's not familiar with commemorative dollars, here's the complete series beginning in 1971 except in 1970 only a nickel dollar was issued. It was initiated and still continues to this day due to collector demand upon the discontinuance of the circulation silver dollar in 1967. https://www.jandm.com/script/getite...CID=5&PID=29Anyone chooses to maintain the cost of MC status primarily to collect the 2oz Renewed Series at one a year may not expect it to be completed any time soon.

I hope you do too! Otherwise I suppose the 2oz collection could become an ongoing family dynasty throughout the decades. LOL!

Thanks MoneyPenney and New1954 (and JS for the pic 'over there'). Very nice coin though kind of wish everyone would stop talking about it until I get one ordered. lol Loose lips and all that. For those looking to commemorate the big fire, this one is really quite nice too. http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/14ka...-prod2601160I probably would have purchase it if I had been given that special coupon earlier this month. Added: all good now

With all due respect, I can't say I cared much for the original design. There were some winners in the original dollar series, but this was not one of them.

No loose lips. Lol. Just trying to make all the people who partake in this forum to get a chance to get these coins.
Seems to me like you did get one now:)))))))

"Hope regular platinum will get a shot..." If you have a rep reserve one now. RCM status does not necessarily preclude you from getting one

Order now through your rep now or you may not get one. Don't wait for the email notice. Last year I was only Platinum so I got my email notice one day after the higher tiers. Missed out. Also, for the Star trek gold Delta, I ordered immediately through rep, otherwise it would have sold out if I waited for the email. I got email confirmation from my rep for this coin.

I don't have a rep... and I'm regular platinum. How does one get a rep?
