This is more as an FYI post. I know many here use CoinsandCanada (which I think is a pretty good basic reference site)for pricing and stat info. I've noticed most auction values have recently fallen below averages shown on that site (including many key year coins). I realize getting the raw sales data from ebay is probably more accurate but to better understand how the CAC stats are arrived at I emailed the CAC contact on the site. Couple of things stood out.

1. The stats go back approx 2.5 Years.
2. About 50% of Certified ebay sales are captured.

Basically, all I go on now is a very general percentage of 50% of trends as a market price.

I know, I know, for different key dates and very early high grades, percentages are different, but I figure if I have a coin that trends for $400, I can most likely get $200 for it on ebay.

That establishes the 'value' for me.

if you can get 50 per cent your doing good for common coins and like mentioned more for top end coins as well as variety's in high grade
