The devices look off on the second coin. I will wait for the experts to chime in before I grade either of them.

The first one I would say might be EF40.
On the second one, I agree with AgHoarder. There are minor discrepencies that concern me as to the authenticity of this coin, but I'm not sure if it is enough to say if it is legitimate or not. Hopefully one of our Vicky experts can confirm this either way.

1st one I would say EF40 --but the second one has lots of detail and would be AU+ (BUT) the date looks wrong so I am picking counterfeit BUT they are both counterfeit because of this mark which can be just seen on both coins (my thoughts)

I'm almost useless when it comes to figuring out counterfeits (unless they are very, very obvious). But for grading, if legimate: The first is an easy AU55-58 (if not MS). The second (the one in question) would be closer to EF45, might hit AU50

Wouldn't CCF be a great place to see if your counterfeit could pass? I'm almost tempted not to answer future posts like this one.

They both appear to be genuine. AU58 for the first AU50 scratched for the second

the bottom right serif on the 1 is half the width than the left. the lower portion of the 8 has a protrusion at 2 o'clock the serif on the 7 appears to be missing the composition of the 4 is muddled the "N" in CENTS has a very weak strike on the left section and once again, different sized serifs the numerals in the date are thinner overall and are progressively lower from left to right.
All of these observations are based on a comparison to the pictures of the first coin. It's interesting to see two very different designs on the same year of coin.

Sinophobia is setting in. Those anomalies aren't surprising at all Each coin was struck from a different reverse die. Those dies were likely punched years apart, one, for sure, is a leftover from 1872.
