Give me your thought and what you think a TPG would give.

My frien added following
p.s. Here is why I would only give it an F. From the 'Photograde' book: "FINE (F-12) Obverse: Approximately half of the hairlines will show from the top of the head to the ear. Reverse: Three-quarters of the major feather detail will show on the wings. The breast will be worn smooth. VERY FINE (VF-20) Obverse: Three quarter of the hairlines will show. The high points of the bottom curls will show considerable wear. Reverse: All the feathers will show on the wings. There will be wear on the center breast feathers and the top edges of the wings." Note that there are no breast feathers (worn smooth) and that there is some missing major detail in the wing feathers (about 1/4, leaving "Three-quarters" showing. So, in an argument I'd say VF but I doubt this would ever slab beyond F. Just figured this would help your argument as the 'Photograde' book by whitman is very well respected and in this case one doesn't need to see their photos - the descr- iptions are good enough.

I see it as an F15. I think, with the more lax standards being used by the TPG's, it would come back a VF20-25. I think ANACS would give it an F15.

I agree with grade of Fine. Breast worn smooth. I was curious about the magnifier, National Dealer. I guess the illumination helps? How would you compare it to the Hastings Triplet? I have a set of 3 of those, 7X, 10X, and 15X, on the advice of Bill Fivaz and J.T. Stanton. Also, what the approximate cost of yours?

Sorry, all, but VG-08 is my guess. PCGS has really tightened the screws on Morgans (trust me) and is no longer giving liberal grades, at least to us peon Morgan collectors. On a good hair day and the PCGS graders had just been given hefty bonuses and a steak dinner with a lot of wine, maybe an F-10. If both wings had clear feathers and maybe a few more hairs were on Liberty's head, than maybe it'd get to F-15 or maybe VF-20.

VF-20 for all the right reasons, I dont see alot of circulation Hits on the obverse the face is smooth and clear, hair detail is good the ear defined, the reverse although its a pic, I think I can still see a little bit of feather detail on the outer edges of the breast, neck feathers are clear, as are the outer wing feather details, the coin has a nice patina and eye appeal for the grade .

Always with the Morgans Oh well heres what I think PCI AU PCGS F12 NGC F15 ANACS F12
Me. There is something not quite Kosher but I cannot put my finger on it. Because of this feeling I would drop my intial F12 to an F10

I wangled a grade out of my friend Straight F 12 he says on a coin like that I doubt any hairs would be split that finely and it would just get the straight F12.

Personally I do not like the triplet magnifyers, but that is just a preference. All of my loupes are Eschenbach Optics. Again, this is just a personal preference. I have tried many brands over the years including Hastings, and have found Eschenbach to be the best for me. The illuminated loupe is nice for the home and office. It uses a LED light, which really helps in the grading. Cost $105.00 For "on the road" I use the 5/8" diameter achromatic glass lens with 10X magnification. Cost $158.00 I also carry a 5X for overall grading. Cost $83.00 For the serious needs, I use the microscope. Now 99% of the people do not need loupes that are this nice or expensive, but I make my living with these tools. When you shell out the price of a house on a single coin, it pays to have the best tools available.
