Hi, I'm new here and wondered if anyone could shed any light on this commemorative medal I bought on ebay a few years back?

Diameter is approximately 33mm, possibly silver?

The reverse has the VJ date: 1945.8.15

It would be helpful if anyone could confirm if the characters are Chinese or some other language.

It looks with the imagery like it might emanate from the Chinese Communist era after 1949?

Anyway, any help in identifying it further would be appreciated

Cheers

Simon

I do not know anything about it, but I noticed the characters are korean actually and I have found this one similar: medal for soviet liberation of North Korea.

Excellent! Thank you Cara! I see someone has removed the mounting, but it is still an interesting piece
