For those of us living overseas, there is a huge frustration when it comes to companies and shipping overseas. I have been trying to purchase this book on Amazon (both Canadian and US stores) and it is blocked from shipping overseas on both sites. I am at a complete loss why Charlton would not want to sell their products overseas. Indigo won't ship to my country (Macau) as well. If I want this book, I am going to have to start looking at coin dealers, many of which charge insane shipping prices for overseas or won't even let me look at their webpage (I'm talking about you, Gatewest. Real great customer service). I would love to be so successful in my business that I can prohibit sales to the majority of the world. Must be awesome. There is no excuse why Charlton prohibits Amazon from shipping overseas. Insane.

Oh, I will be able to find it if I really want it. I look at these inane restrictions to international shipping and the fear of selling a product as a challenge. I am just so curious as to why Charlton refuses to sell their books to anyone other than Canada or the US. Bizarre.

Charlton Press was sold to a new owner late in 2015... any of us who used to contribute to the catalogues, have not been contacted by the new owner.

Two copies on ebay and both companies refuse to sell to any other country other than Canada and the US. And people wonder why the market is fading for collectibles. One of them was Colonial Acres. Again, must be nice to have such a successful company that they don't need to expand their selling area.

Why don't you just have a friend from over here buy the book for you? All you have to do is send him the $$ Paypal and he/she can mail it to you.

I know. I can get around this. I am just venting at Charlton and Colonial Acres and Gatewest and all the other companies who don't feel the need to expand their market. Especially Charlton, which has no excuse not to provide this book for sale on Amazon.

The reason coin dealers don't send overseas is the probative shipping costs of Canada Post. Don't blame the companies; blame Canada Post. Any parcel sent internationally is vey expensive. For Macao, I calculated the shipping cost using Canada Post shipping tool at $54! Which is more than the cost of the book. If you ask a friend to buy the book, he will have to fork out $54 to send it over to you. Unless he brings over it over when he visits you.

I ordered a heavy book from Amazon and it cost $9 USD to ship from Amazon.com. If Charlton allowed their books to be sold through Amazon, I could avoid the crazy postage prices.

Shipping costs are much cheaper in the US. That is why Amazon.com shipping charges are so low. The US Post Office have a printed material rate that allow people to send books for very little money.

I know, that's why I always order from Amazon.com. The group at fault here is Charlton Press.

Quote:If Charlton allowed their books to be sold through Amazon, I could avoid the crazy postage prices. They do. https://www.amazon.ca/Charlton-Cana...+paper+moneyBut it says, "Ships and Sold by Charlton" instead ship/sold by Amazon. The reason is Amazon has no inventory. Amazon cannot carry every book in the world and I notice quite often they sell through 3rd parties a lot instead of carry inventory. Again, neither Amazon nor Charlton or any dealer is to blame. It is Canada Post and their outrageous high rates. You can buy the book through Colonial Acres or Canadian Coin & Currency and they ship international. The companies say they will ship overseas but charge actual shipping costs which is around $50. So how is the shipping costs insane when that is what Canada Post charges.

They sell through Amazon but it is restricted to US/Canada only. All they need to do is sell some inventory to Amazon in the US and Canada and then everyone in the world can purchase their products. I dont know how it works exactly but it can't be that difficult to provide Amazon with some stock.

How do you know that Charlton refuses to sell to Amazon? Maybe Amazon don't want to buy the book because it is a poor seller? Inventory is overhead and unsold inventory costs money so Amazon want to keep costs down. By letting Charlton sell through Amazon, Amazon still get percentage of the sales but don't need to carry inventory. I am sure that will benefit both Charlton and Amazon.

Amazon has the 2010 edition in stock and fulfilled by Amazon. They also carry the Canadian Coins Volume One 2015. I imagine if Charlon wanted to add some copies to the Amazon inventory, they could. When I say the shipping charges are insane, I mean compared to Canada Post. US charges, as shown by Amazon, are reasonable. Doesn't matter though since I know someone who is going back to Canada for Christmas and I am going to ask him to get me one. I'm just venting here.
