Cladding Error - 2014 D Dime?

Found this in change, and noticed it had this 'stain' on it. The more I looked at it, it looks like maybe some of the cladding wasn't applied correctly, allowing copper to show through. I bumped up the contrast in the right-hand side image. Can anyone weigh in on this?

Looks more like the coin was that copper color (like a metal detector find) and was circulated and the silver color came back after the alteration color was rubbed off. If you note on your coin the color is only showing on the recessed areas on your coin? The raised areas are silver colored.
