VF (British grade)
Old wear on the high points that has patinated over.
Minor digs and a tiny amount of corrosion over the 'T' don't help.

Nevertheless, I would be happy enough to include it in my collection.

These circulated in Australia as the standard circulating currency until 1910, and as such, form part of the Australian circulating coinage heritage.

I patrol the $5 junk box at my LCD, and would have been happy enough to take this one home with me.

I would be more concerned about the cleaning and rub......Rather than grade ?.

I would tend to agree, though I'm not that knowledgeable.

I am at a phase where I collect mostly world silver coins. But I was able to pick this up for $4.25 on e-bay. I think copper or bronze coins can be beautiful, though I don't really like copper-nickel.

Thanks for comments.

ANY 19th century coin at VF (British) or better at a reasonable price is worth a look.
U.S. coins included in World coins.

I would say this was GVF or better, although it does look as though there was some cleaning on the REV. A VF grade is a little harsh IMO even for British standards.

The fingers on the trident, plumes on the helmet and breastplate are all first points of wear on these, this shows little signs of any of those

I agree with W.
Minor digs aside it's a GVF to NEF. At $4.25 you can't go wrong.
