Hope I'm in the correct forum.

I know that e-bay has an option of saving a listing to a collection. Is this a viable way to track one's purchases over the long run? I'm asking mostly in terms of salvaging the seller's images. I know that "Purchase History" is not good, since e-bay will eventually remove images.

I would find a better way as I think eventually the pictures would be purged from the ebay system.

best bet is to copy and paste and save it to your own hard drive in a folder. if you are trying to track your purchases you can do that on ebay for 2-3 years, then they drop off. you could also print your purchase history every 6 months or so..
Rest in Peace

Open a word document, copy and paste all the pictures you want. Takes a few seconds.

If I buy a coin on ebay, are the images mine too, or do I have to ask permission from the seller to use them? I was under the impression that I had to ask permission if I wanted to resell the coin and use their photos. Maybe if I just wanted the photos for my own use and not to resell, it would be ok just to keep them. Ed

You are correct, copyright (ownership) doesn't transfer with the coin. Many sellers will be happy to let you use them if you ask.

Using the photos for private cataloging purposes falls under fair use, so copyright is no problem.
