Wondering if this considered a die crack. Seems there one in the front between the 5 and 7. And one on the reverse. I appreciate your thoughts.

to CCF!

No - not a die crack. It is damage to the coin. Suggest do a search of the forum for "die crack". There is a "search this forum" box in the upper left hand portion. You will be able to see examples.

It looks like a struck through to me. Piece of string. It wraps around the edge of the coin. So you see the same indent on the edge of the coin as well. I've seen a coin with wire that ran from one side of the coin over the edge and to the other side of the coin. That is what I think your have. Not as strong as a piece of wire, but the string would still leave an incuse mark on the coin. So if the mark is on the edge, it is a mint error.

Probably struck-through, but the whole coin looks to have been in a corrosive environment of some sort, and maybe that spot corroded more lying on some sort of catalyst.

Good eye! I've seen these so intricate, you could count the individual threads making
up the string. But that's a nice 'un, for sure.
