I have 2 Loonies I got for a tip waaaaaay back when I did some waitressing. One 1988 & One 1989.
I dont know much about Canadian coins but can you tell me about my Loonies Andre?

Thanks but I'm not interested in varieties, just about the 2 Loonies I have. I looked over the link a little bit and didnt find much about the Loonies. Maybe I'm just not looking very well
I guess the info I'm looking for is specific..When did they start minting the Loonies and total mintage of each year and the different mint marks.
Do they still mint Loonies? Questions of that nature

Loonies started to be minted in 1987 this was to replace the dollar bill then later they replaced the $ 2.00 bill in 1996 witch came as be metal they changed the min mark in 2006 and for the total mintage you can go at the link below.

Yes--those are some interesting marks! They must have really used those dies a long time...I'll look at my Loonies.

Multi-sided coins collars (pieces used to hold the blanks in place) tend to wear more rapidly than round coin collars. Perhaps these defects are as a result of a loose collar and as such are more prominent on loonies?
