Today I received the BU-set of 2008 belgian euro coins. The national side has been redesigned. The monogram and date have been put in the inner circle. The mintmarks of mintmaster Romain Coenen and the Brussels Mint have been added, together with the letters "BE" to identify the coin as being a Belgian coin.

This changement makes the 2007 10,20,50 eurocents, 1 and 2 euro a 1-year issue, as the European side of these coins was changed in 2007.

I add the images of the national side of the 2008 and 2007 2-euro coins, with the effigy of Albert II.

That's good to know - I have to check my change better now! I Think it's good thing for our hobby that they introduce little new things all the time.

I know that finland have done the same as well, and a few other countries but I am not sure which. Generally though people are collecting the new common design, so will end up picking up the new national side in the process, though after going around italy all I got was one 2007 luxembourg 2 euro coin, as italy and austrian coins do not change until this year and are not circulating in numbers yet. Oh well, wait till next year I guess!
