Found this cent in the first roll of 1970s OBW's I recently purchased looking for small date 1970's and DDO's etc.

NO DATE.

I know its not worth any extra value etc, but what I was really surprised with was I didn't realize how thin the coin actually is.- you could probably snap it very easily.

* No small date or DDO so far , naturally

How exactly did you find an off-center coin in a roll when the diameter is larger than the roll itself

If brinks rolled it it would have broken out the side of the roll. maybe they did not notices it. It wouldn't be a 1st time someone payed $5.75 an hour and gets a bounces for the amount rolled per day ,like piece work.

I know at the tire plant I worked at we had a big problem with odd thing like candy wrapper, penny's and other think sticking out of new tire.

It was in a completely sealed roll but there was some play in the roll- not like a newer Spring Bros Etc tighly compacted roll- it was labeled "Patent# 2205283- Steel- Strong Gunshell" The paper itself when I unwrapped it was very thick and all the coins inside were B.U Obverse and Reverse, but I did notice the edges of every coin was like a powder brown color- not shiny .

The off-center cent was right there, in with all the other coins.

I can't explain why it did not get damaged or damage the roll- I have no idea.

I have also found off center coins in rolls. They fit down in at a slight angle so they are not perfectly flat in relation to the coin above it or below it in a roll. They still fit though.

Thanks,
Bill
