Looking for some help on this one, as a friend has one they would like to sell, gorgeous cameo obverse, comes with the issued case, the coin is mark free. Do these just normally sell at spot price? Appreciate all comments, tyia. Jon.

The dollar coin was first introduced into Australia in 1984.
As far as I know there is NO such animal as a 1974 dollar
Maybe you are posting in the wrong part of the forum ?

If you mean "1974 Commonwealth Games dollar", then that's a New Zealand coin, not Australian.

Maybe Daniel Carr has decided that Australia needs to have a 1974 dollar seeing as none were minted

Sap, yeah that's the one, it is the New Zealand dollar with a mintage of 5000. Can you move this to world coins.

I don't own one of these But I have read that the mintage for the Silver version is 18,000 and 515,000 for the copper/nickle coin.
Also the Silver coin has a plain edge with a date stamped into it and the copper/nickle coin has a reeded edge.
The going rate for the silver coin is about $40.
The 1974 Silver dollar with the Egret design is the low mintage coin at 5,000 pieces.

On this link they claim a 5000 mintage of the proof coin, not sure if this is accurate tho.

Well ya know there is a distance between here and there lol, so the mintage numbers got mixed up in the time span lol.
