As an initial comment: the coin is in such poor condition I really doubt that it would be a modern counterfeit. To assess whether it is a contemporary counterfeit we need to know dimensions and weight. Out of interest what has made you suspicious?

It's 12.6 g and 33 mm.

Just got it in a lot with a few suspicious pieces. But I think you are right. No point in faking this one perhaps. The lot included this one, which I cant seem to figure out....

Looks like a 15 Kreutzer from the German City of Montfort. Here is a link to a similar coin:

Not sure on fake vs. real--nothing screams fake to me though. For whatever reason, those die polishing marks (or whatever) around the number 9 seem to be quite common. Here is one for sale on the bay:
