Hello Everyone,
My fist day with Quarter hunting and came across this weird coin. It's about 50 percent thicker than the other quarters in the roll and feels lighter too?
Sharp around all rims (both sides). Deep dish on both sides too. Also looks like the copper guts are coming out... lol!
Thanks again for all the help!

Looks altered. The reeds would be flat. The edge of the coin is rounded. Looks altered. PSD You can still see a n=hin of the reeding on the edge of the coin.

Hey Coop,
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry I am new to the coin collecting and the terminology. What is PSD? My understanding of that abbreviation is photoshop. When you say altered... do you mean someone physically altered the coin after it left the mint? The copper part is rounded too. I can take more pics.

to the forum!

PSD = Post Strike Damage.

Looks like someone or something filed the edge off.

we call this coin either a "Spooned" coin or a Dryer Coin. The edges would never look like this coming out of the press.

The Term PSD means Post Strike Damage or also call PMD Post Mint Damage.
