A few days ago, I posted a link to a Numista coin page in an identification thread. Today, while checking up on a new post for that thread, I've noticed that the Numista link turned into some garbage about URL shortening.
I've checked with a search, and it appears that this didn't just happen to my posts - every link to Numista became garbage. I can't even type the name of the site (Numista dot com, with the regular dot) without it turning into "Numist(Offsite URL shortening not allowed-2016-12-10)m".
I understand that it might have been a fix for something, but unless it really had strong enough implications for you to end up in jail (I've seen some stuff that really was this bad happen to a few other forums, so I'm not dismissing this possibility), said fix incidentally broke one of the most popular link targets from this site. I mean, come on, Numista is only one of the most common coin identification services. You already disallowed (204) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed (I can't even properly use this word in my post), so what is a guy who wants to link to an identified type supposed to use? NGC? They don't have pictures half the time, and have borderline useless pictures in half of the other cases (and being almost entirely based on Krause, they have pretty much nothing on pre-1500 coins, or on non-German pre-1600 coins). That's not even mentioning that it already broke many gazillions of existing links, most of which are in posts whose authors would not be able to edit them anyway.
Dear CCF administration, unless the problem this substitution fixed really had potential site-ending or worse consequences (I can only think of one way it could happen, and I'd rather not mention it in polite company), please undo this "fix" and make Numista links work again. If nothing else, this is insulting to me as an amateur coin identifier.
(If this is in the wrong forum, move it; sorry.)
