Take a look at the top loops of both 2's in this 1822 25c.

I've never seen this style on a genuine coin.

Is this coin a rare variety or a possible counterfeit?

FAKE! The diagnostic of the no-no site fake large-diameter Capped Bust quarters are the wire rim outside of the deticles, and the line protruding from star #2 from the bottom left. The counterfeit dies were made using an 1818 Quarter that had this diagnostic.

The date is in Chinese.

I wish these Chinese counterfeiters would dry up and blow away.
