Unknown Weirdly-Shaped Medieval Copper Coin - India?

january1may Pillar of the Community Russian Federation 5177 Posts	Posted 12/18/2016 11:14 am A few weeks ago, I bought a few strange coins I could not identify at the Vernisage market. I thought that they're probably something interesting, and that I might be able to figure out what they are by posting them on CCF. However, I had somehow forgot about them until today. This particular coin is rather weirdly shaped, some of it might be damage, but it does look like it was probably made that way originally. I'm posting it here because I'm 90% sure it's pre-1900, but I have no idea what it could possibly be besides that (though I suspect India and/or Middle East). The size is 25x20 mm, but with that sort of shape it's more of a guideline anyway. Haven't weighed it, sorry. Sorry for the crappy photos, smartphone camera sucks. I thought the flowery pattern on the first side reminded me of some coins I've seen before, but I can't recall which coins they were (Persian? Georgian?) The second side seems to be Arabic writing (probably should be turned about 120 degrees clockwise). I'll check out Persian and Georgian coins on zeno.ru for similar patterns, but it really could be anything (and, like my other coin posted for identification recently, will probably end up being likely post-1600 and be moved to another subforum). Lunavada, Vakhatsingh II (1867-1929) Extract is from "Heritage of Gujarat through Coins", Sameer Panchal, Amit Mehta and Vinay Vadke. A book which I can recommend.
