I know nothing about varieties on these coins, but this looks a lot like a doubled die to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Could be Machine Doubling. I am also not great at this but do you have another one to compare it to? If so does it look like the numbers are wider than normal? I don't see a corner edge here to show it's two different numbers but if it looks like the right width but with that shelf then it is likely Machine Doubling. But if the numbers are wider it could be a doubled die. Any Swiss experts out there? Is this a common year for doubled dies?

While it has some characteristics of a machine double, those are some pretty awesome notches on the 1, 3, and 5. All comments welcome, as I would like to solve this one.

Definitely a doubled die.

I joined this forum just two months before this thread was started.

Just to jump on this revived thread, does anyone know how the dates were hubbed on swiss francs back then? Almost looks like it could be an RPD rather than a doubled die.
