Royal Canadian Mint - Like collectible works of art, Canada's circulation coins feature timeless images that come together to tell the story of a nation's past; of its varied landscape; and of the pride of its citizens, from coast to coast to coast. Through the coin designs that have become as iconic as the subjects they depict, the 2017 Classic Canadian Coin Setis a powerful reflection of this nation's legacy on its 150th anniversary.

I'd like these for my collection. I am not usually into non-circulation but I do collect the traditional beaver, schooner, etc.so I think this would suit my needs.

Does anyone think this will become available in any other configuration later in the year or is this it? Will it be cheaper after-market or the opposite - impossible to find in 2018?

The coins, except the 50c piece and the Loonie, are avalable in every Gift set. And as people tried to guess earlier, possible that RCM will issue double-sets, when the newly designed coins will be aside with traditional, and all as UNC.
Regarding its future market value - if discounted, so couple of dollars maximum. Probably will stay issue price, might be with small premium, similar to 2012 Unc set, where the Penny has been inserted for the last time.

Given its mintage of 75,000, it will not be "impossible to find". There will be certainly no premium for it. And will it go lower, it is already a low price item. A few dollars off will make no difference to me.

I wouldn't mind picking up 2 of these, one to bust open and keep the other sealed.

Now we know where the 2017 Toonie most likely came from that a CCF member had shown here on the forum a couple of weeks ago.

On another thread a CCF member posted a preview glimpse of a 2017 uncirculated set that included both the traditional and the 150th anniv design.

But at $24.95, the cost is not great if you prefer not to wait.

Does anyone think there is a chance that the RCM will come out with a 2017 set that has the 1967 designs? Those are classic - maybe becausue they were such a big thing for me growing up>

I hope the special Canada 150 circulating coins come in a set such as the classic designs. I bought 2 of those and I would get two of these if they were offered.

My hope as well. Or sealed in plastic, in CAD 50 price range...

Out friend from CC&C already took care of us:
the 1967 designed coins have been issued in the 5oz format.

Not thinking about the 5 oz. coins - as nice as they look in reality not too many people will hve them in hand. I'm thinking (wishing) that a smaller run of the original coins (except the penny) would be a neat idea and become really collectable while hearkening back to 1967.

They aren't affordable, that's truth.
The big coins will better highlight beautiful design, but original-sized coins proof set would be more desirable by NCLT collectors (in case if they not totally lost interest)
