On the fence for this one. Would definitely have jumped on it right away were the official 150 logo part of the design.
As it stands this is too similar to the higher priced 2012 issue with gold plating.

Quote: Would definitely have jumped on it right away were the official 150 logo part of the design. It's very likely that use of the official logo requires payment of a licensing fee. To keep this coin's price point at $29.95 CAD (as in past years), the RCM probably had to forego its inclusion.

Interesting observation. Is there a list of RCM coins so far that use the official CANADA 150 logo? Thanks!

As per my memory, 2 coins issued so far: 50 cents coin (in silver set) and Logo Privy SML.

Seems unlikely that the Heritage Minister would charge the Finance Minister for use of the Canada 150 logo but very strange things do happen on the Hill. Kidding aside, it appears that anyone can use the logo if they get approval first http://canada.pch.gc.ca/eng/1469543959157

Doesn't matter if it's on the obverse as long as it's there somewhere. Lots of room for a logo on the reverse of the 1/2 ounce $10. Definitely not going in my Canada 150 collection. I think that's 14 now.

I just got this coin in the mail today. I really like it. It was over 90% sold when I ordered it last week from the Mint. Quote: As it stands this is too similar to the higher priced 2012 issue with gold plating. Actually for me, that was the tipping point to get me to buy this. I do not really collect this kind of stuff. Up until now the only non-traditional coin I owned was the 2012 Farewell silver one cent coin with the plating. I had bought that one because pennies were my first coins collected as a kid in the 1960s. This new coin complements it quite well and these might be the only two non-circulating, non-traditional coins I ever buy (unless the Mint entices me with some other 2017 offer for Canada's 150th birthday)! I don't care if it has an official logo on it or not. By the way, is it easy to take the coins out of these types of capsules if one ever wishes to do so?

Give it to a kid. So far have only seen adults have trouble with capsule. I like the coin. Mine came today as well. Wasn't keen on the little "security" 150 hashes all over the 2oz. Still....

Just an FYI, this one sold out at the Mint and prices have increased slightly at Gatewest and Colonial. CC&C are out of stock.
Pretty remarkable that a simple design and attractive plain silver coin with a specimen finish could be so popular. There is hope.

I put an email alert out for this coin and bought it today for $5 over issue from CA. I have a search at Canada Post ongoing. Tough coin to find. Happy to pick this up.
