Maybe the person thought the environmental damage was toning.
Rest in Peace

We are constantly challenged on this forum with grading and giving and receiving subjective examinations. We have true experts in many diverse fields.

Spending time here allows all of us to sharpen our skills, such as spotting this coin as a details problem in seconds.

There are many times more collectors who try to understand these complexities without our advantages. A look at what is sold on ebay constantly reminds us of those collectors that have not learned many basic skills.

We can only do our best, as we do, to welcome new members and hope they join our discussions.

Remembering that all of us knew almost nothing at one point, too.

You beat me to that response..

A total "bs" grade from NGC, as the coin was kept inside and in a plastic holder from the time it was removed from tube. Beautiful dark blue toning lines the devices of the coin

Probably better off just to buy a nice raw clean one for the same price

Tremendous reminder moxking.

That is the purpose of collector education ... and the reason for this valued forum.
