I come across this this morning and noticed the LDS on the field and across the neck. Then I noticed the anomalies on the face on the eye and below. Thanks for looking and I hope everyone is having a great Christmas!

Circulation may have smoothed the brow a bit. But the design looks correct in that area:

Here are a few more pictures with the details that interested me. My first set didn't show very well what I noticed. The areas on the face are squared off and not rounded as they should be. Thanks for looking. Thanks for the previous advice coop!

The prominent striations (lines moving from the center to the periphery) indicate a VLDS (Very Late Die State).

I appreciate that moxking, but my area of interest is the square cheek lines. They are not rounded as should be. They are square.

They are from the die starting to breakdown on the interior devices. Note the movement is in the direction to the nearest edge of the die. Almost looks like a Frankenvelt Dime. Probably the die was used for a while after this?

He is saying Frankenstien and Rosevelt. Like a combo of those two because of the VLDS die

Even the ear is lack detail as well. Scary! The motto also shows the VLDS affect on it, distorting it.

What may have happened with this coin is for one, an over used die as other have already suggested, plus being struck though some debris which made the other, cleaner parts of the design show stronger details.
By having weaker details in part of a design, the stronger details may appear to be squared off or unusual looking. You can see some of this on the lower neck area as well.
