This is far from my area of expertise. I have found as much history online as to the salvage of the coins from the Concepcion in 1978 by Mr Webber.
These coins do not have any grades assigned to them so maybe these are the ones they designated for sale to the public? There are (2) 8 reales, a 4 reales and a 2 reales in the lot/case.

Any help from the membership would be appreciated as far as to historical and monetary value and if these are common? I have no idea if these are similar to the Mel Fisher salvaged coins from the Atocha

Thanks! RK

There's a whole book on the subject on ebay for $11.

It's rare to see the cases with four pieces.

Single pieces sell for a huge range from $60 to $300.

It appears these pieces are quality 3, which would put them at the lower end of the scale. Still, this is a neat set.

Now you just need to find a treasure coin collector.

Thanks moxking! I am still researching, I am trying to find out where these were sold with the case. I can find that Tiffany's mounted some in jewelry in the late 70's and some of the coins from the salvage had a tour of the country and were on display at different places. Closest to me would be the Aquarium in Boston.

I will do some more research and if all else fails, maybe buy the ebay book for $11. ( I did get an ebay gift card for Christmas that I can no longer use on coins)

You should check Dan Sedwick's past auctions for prices realized.

Thanks jgenn, I found his site while browsing but did not find much to get a general idea. I will check some more or maybe even send him an email with the info.
