Hi everyone.

I am hoping someone can help me authenticate these Trade dollars. They are rare in the UK, so I am not very familiar with what I should be looking for:

All fake. They're fantasy pieces. FYI the CC or Carson city mint wasn't established for making coins til 1870. I doubt they're even real silver. Hopefully you can get your money back.

Thank you, I assumed they were, especially with the CC mark.

What are the key things to look for? These crop up occasionally but are cheap as they are not as popular as in the USA.
Rest in Peace

Check ebay sold prices in TPG's to get a feel for what is real.

The ones you are showing are terrible fakes, not even remotely close to what the real coin looks like.

Trade dollars have been heavily counterfeited since the 1950's.

The two Trade dollars are counterfeit pattern coins. A genuine pattern Trade dollar is made with 90% silver and the design was never used in circulation. The Goloid dollars are counterfeit pattern coins. A genuine Goloid was made from gold, silver and copper and never put into use because there was concern of the coins being counterfeited. If these coins were genuine, they would be worth over $2,000 each. You can check the weight, thickness, magnet test and compare to a genuine coin in a TPG holder.

I bet they all stick to magnets. Sorry, but they are all fake.

The first one, 1847-CC is not a Trade dollar, but it's fake nevertheless.

All counterfeit, probably from our Chinese friends who are doing their darnest to ruin this hobby.

I am sick of hearing about Chinese Panda coins from graders like NGC who make money off of them. Until the Chinese clean up their act and shut down the Chinese counterfeiters, I want nothing to do with any Panda coins.
