A while ago in the Canadian Counterfeit thread, I identified
a Silver Superman Shield Coin as being counterfeit.
I was asked by a fellow collector how did I know it was fake.
I thought that I would post it so anybody would be able
to tell the difference between genuine and counterfeit.

Easiest way is to look at the right shoulder.
Genuine- Shoulder is rounded
Counterfeit- Shoulder is pointed.
Also looking at the Queens face, it is easy to see the differences.
(Open mouth, pointed nose etc.)

There is also a noticeable difference in the font on the
reverse, but unless you had a genuine coin to compare with,
it might be hard to notice the difference on it's own.
Rest in Peace

@jimmyD......I actually bought that Shield and received it today after the seller assured me it weighed 31.39 grams and was non magnetic and 38mm DIA..Its a beautiful coin and it all checks out. I sold all my original boxed Superman Shield coins so I dont have another one to compare it too but I think you are wrong on this one.....The images from the seller you are using for this coin are distorted as well... and cloudy... so it doesn't correlate with the actual coin which has a beautiful PR finish. If I thought it was fake I would and could return it but it isn't....The Seller didnt know it could be a fake until I asked him to weigh and measure it and test it for magnetism and he promised me a full refund if it didnt check out...Its always better to buy a coin with the original box and coa because then you know its probably a genuine article but I'm satisfied this Shield coin is in fact a genuine coin.
