Just venting. Sold a 2010 silver proof set on ebay. Buyer paid in the afternoon on Dec 28. auction stated first class mail shipping. Paid Wed. afternoon, I didn't get it out Thursday or Friday because of holiday stuff, Post Office closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday, so had it ready to go out today when the buyer emailed that he wanted a refund because he had not received it yet. Even if I shipped it ten minutes after he paid he wouldn't have it yet! Gave him his stupid refund, even though I will lose the postage I had already printed and put on the package. Put him on my blocked bidder list.

Did you email the buyer to let him/her know that there would be a weeks delay before you would be able to ship the coins?

My auction particulars state that shipping will be first class package, shipped within 3 business days. Thursday, Friday, today.

So you sold a coin and decided not to ship it for several days and didn't bother to tell the buyer and you are mad at the BUYER for wanting a refund?
I'd check the mirror.

If I were the buyer I also would have appreciated better communication on the matter, although I probably would have been more patient as well.

Read my vent more carefully. 1. My auction stated I would ship within three business days. With the holiday, the third business day is TODAY, so, NOT late with shipping. 2. His complaint was he has not RECEIVED it yet. As stated, even if I shipped it immediately, he would not have it yet.

what was the expected delivery date ebay gave the buyer.. I would not have refunded so quickly, put I don't know the details, either, what is your handling time ? if the it was supposed to be mailed within 24 hours, then the seller would be wrong, if it was supposed to be mailed with in 76 hours than the buyer was wrong..

I think you did the right things (other than not shipping Thurs. or Fri.). I usually just accept it in these cases even though, Technically, you did nothing wrong. I don't believe most people look at sellers' S&H times.
I would have notified them, though, of the delay and reason.

Not trying to psychoanalyze the buyer because I buy and sell on ebay but consider these items: Did you print a shipping label (so the buyer was auto-notified of tracking) before the refund request? Perhaps buyer's remorse but I would have let the buyer know there would be a slight delay due to the holidays. The listing does state "Will usually ship within 2 business days" and USPS was open on Saturday the 31st. New Year's Eve is not a holiday even if it technically wasn't a business day because it fell on a Saturday. Try to let it go and relist it.

I think that because of the Christmas distractions the OP simply "Dropped the Ball" and lost a customer because of it. These things happen, Not the end of the World

Communication is the key. It can save you many post-sale headaches.

If you printed a USPS shipping label via ebay, you can void it within 48 hours and get a refund. Looks like you gave the buyer an easy out because of the delay in shipping.

Even though you state terms in the listing, it always helps to send an email to the buyer to let them know when the item will ship and another when it does ship including the tracking number so they know when it will arrive. A couple minutes worth of emails helps prevent many head aches.

It makes absolutely no difference what you list in your lots. Buyers don't read it. None of it. They expect Amazon efficiency from everyone. If you included that you gave a free silver dime to everyone that asks for it (in the lot details themselves) you'd probably send out very few free dimes. I always list to insure closed auctions are always followed by an open PO day. No such ability to control BIN but I never list that way.
