I have just bought a 1914 S ST. Gaudens and it has a double struck "S". Has anyone seen one or heard of one before? I can not find any info and hope you guys can help.

Is the second S below the date? That is the designer's initials and can look like an S. The S above the date is the mintmark and is very small, it would be difficult to see Machine Doubling without a 10X glass.

I looked at it under a 14x loop. The "S" is definitely doubled.

We'll need to see an image and you need to know slight/minor Machine Doubling is not unusual. A 14X glass is quite powerful as well.
