Today while roll hunting I found me my first 1982 small date is it rare. And if what value does it have

It looks nice. They are not considered rare. I think it depends mostly on what part of the country you are in. For me down here in the southeast I don't get many but I think they are more abundant on the west coast.

the one to look for is the 1982 d small date , and for what Ken Potter said only a few hundred were minted

cwd , yes the 1982 d small date copper, now there's going to be 8 different pennies for 1982 instead of 7.

There is no way to know how many were made. Since there were both Copper and Zinc cents being minted the same year, there could be thousands of them.

I wouldn't mind finding a couple of them....
