Hi, I just came across an odd looking 1968s cent while roll hunting. I have seen lots of 60's "s" cents, and none looked like this.

the coin is about 1/3 thicker than regular circulation coins of that era, and really shiny.

I am sorry I don't have a weight, but looking at it, it must be greater than 3.1g (I can weigh it tonight)

I will also get pictures up later as well.

Any help would be great. Cheers.

The edges will look wider then on a non proof coin but it should weight the same.

No, but the edges are fully struck up and the rims are sharp so they may look that way. The planchets are identical so it actually is not possible.

Proof coins are struck twice by the dies creating the taller and better formed rims - same weight though as the Business struck coins - being single struck.

I say yes. They are not supposed to be in circulation, so I would save them.
