Third Party Graders And Fake/Counterfeit Coins

I want to submit it to have it graded and see if it's real, but will they send it back if it's counterfeit or will they keep it? I'd rather keep the coin not being 100% sure (I believe it is real) rather than sending it in and losing it if they keep it.
