1794 British Trade Token / Conder Token. D&H Essex 35a. Choice EF, smooth glossy red-brown. This token features George, Prince of Wales, eldest son of King George III; his bust faces right on the obverse. This bust was originally engraved by Thomas Wyon. The reverse features the Welsh 'Three Feathers' heraldry, usually called the Prince of Wales's Feathers, and his motto 'Ich Dien'; or, 'I Serve'. The edge is lettered WARLEY CAMP MDCCXCIV X*X*X - Warley Camp presumably referring to the encampments at Great Warley in Brentwood, Essex, although there have been arguments advanced that these actually refer to Little Warley. There are at least 2 known varieties of this token, mostly different in the position of the lettering, and the inscription on the edge. This is the 2nd type (with date on edge and the Prince's forehead ending below the 2nd letter E in GEORGE.)
