I need help identifying this medallion/coin. It was found in the mountains of the Anteguana, Lazaro Cardenas Michoacan Mexico. It seems to be astrology. Looks like gold. Almost looks egyptian? Is it anything? Thanks!

To the forum This looks like a pendant of some sort that has worn through the mounting and has been lost by someone. If it is Gold then a nice find

I agree with Trout. At 7 o'clock on the first picture and 9 o'clock on the second picture, that looks like a mounting for a necklace or pendant. Also at 9 o'clock on the second picture, looks like it shows "GOOD LUCK" on circle above an image of the sun.

I'm not sure when they started putting scissors on medallions, but from that alone I would think it's not OLD old. Measurements and a weight could help clarify the composition, gold or otherwise. Great find no matter what the outcome!

Great eye! GOOD LUCK on a coin found in Mexico is probably not something of great historical importance, especially since it looks like its gold plated copper and the copper has not oxidized. I do not have this in my possesion to weigh but ill ask my family memeber to see if he can provide me picgures with dimensions.

Quote: I'm not sure when they started putting scissors on medallions, but from that alone I would think it's not OLD old. Scissors have existed for thousands of years. The earliest ones were discovered in Ancient Egypt. This type of scissor on this medallion does not look too ancient. Now it is time to figure out whether this medallion is gold or not. If it is, then it is quite a find for the author of this thread.

Quote: Scissors have existed for thousands of years. Very true, but not pivoting scissors in this fashion. This is a fairly modern representation.

Looks to be plated copper,@ the 9:00 o'clock there is the word "GOOD LUCK" and then @ about 6:o'clock is what looks like the circle c copyright symbol and some letters to the right of it. Back in the groovy days of what's your sign babe! a lot of the books and kits sold to do your own astro forecast also had pendants or pocket pieces included. First pic has the Spanish word for money or silver in one of the legs of the star along with other words around the ring and star legs I can't make out the lettering. I would tend to agree with a modern jewelry/key tag pendant. Not that it would matter much but it also looks to have been cleaned

Fabricated Fantasy sold specifically as a good luck charm, most often in the early 1960's to the very early 1970's.
All the "cool" symbols on them are basically picked out of a book on that subject and decorated in no particular order.
Not gold.
Virtually worthless.

I've seen medallions like this before & they are good luck charms to wear. I don't know the meaning of everything except the Zodiac for sure. I believe the otherside is full of lucky numbers & symbols. I do believe the "Star" design is taken from a King Solomon Seal.
