I would never buy a planchet like that unless it was slabbed. The 55 DDO is laughable. Who is that going to fool?

I am pleased to say that after messaging the seller and trying to educate him on his coins, he is getting books to learn about this hobby and have taken down his listings.

How can you have a blank planchet with raised rims like that? The coin was either struck or it wasn't.

@bobby131313 Ohhh! I did not know that. He told me that he took it down. I guess once a scumbag always scumbag. I need to stop thinking that people are naturally nice and be more realistic. Especially when it comes to cheating people for their money. And there I was thinking that I had a done a good deed.

From the glossary: planchetThe blank disk of metal before it is struck by a coining press which transforms it into a coin. Type I planchets are flat. Type II planchets have upset rims from the milling machine, these to facilitate easier striking in close collars.

ebay is full of those that want an uneducated buyer to nibble on their line. IMHO it does not hurt the honest sellers out there. Any venue of this type will always attract the good, the bad and the ugly.
