Hello all, recently received many coins from my Dad. Looking forward to learning more about this collection. Most are fairly worn including silver and half dollars. He had also some wheat pennies mixed in with pennies from 1982 - 1984 that still look new. Read about some double dies on the 1982 pennies but not about blurred or obscured lettering on the reverse that appears in the same area on multiple pennies. Am attaching a few photos would appreciate some insight if this is considered valuable.

from a fellow Texan!

Those blurred areas appear to be a struck-through error, where something (usually a blob of grease) got between the planchet and die during the strike. Since liquids are not compressible, you end up with these flat, blurry spots. Generally struck-through errors don't command much of a premium, if any.

One thing interesting about 1982 cents is that 1982 was the transition year from copper to copper-plated zinc. There are also large date and small date varieties, which makes them fun to look through and gives you a whole pile of varieties to put into an album.

Enjoy the hunt!

That area will appear weak on many of the cents from that era.
If you look at the opposite side of the coin, you will find that is where Lincoln's shoulder is, the deepest part of the die on the obverse side. That deep part of the shoulder causes less pressure on the opposite side resulting in a weaker struck area.
Rest in Peace
