Some of the 1944 dated steel cents may have been struck on planchets prepared for the Beligan 2 Franc

The good news is that those 1944 Belgian 2 Franc coins are readily available, in all grades and all price levels.

A Belgium 2 Franc is NOT a cent. But some of the planchets DID get struck with 1944 cent dies creating the 1944 steel cent.

There are also the experimental copper clad steel cents that were struck in 1984.
