Since I am still a novice I'm going to make a somewhat educated guess. I want this to be a struck through coin but I don't think it is because the field is not affected and the rim is flat. The reasons I think it might be struck through is because the reverse is unaffected and the rim is normal also the coin is not bent. So it doesn't look like a coin that has been beat on or run over. It is of normal diameter, thickness and weight. Please tell me what you think. All help is appreciated.

Yep - PMD. The coin was probably in a parking lot and run over numerous times with it's obverse facing the pavement!!

Road rash is one common description I see used quite often for extreme damage. But in examples I find similar to this are more often found on the sidewalks and driveways outside of stores and or residential areas.

The side facing up can often look pristine, only to find the underside has been ground against the cement as it gets trampled by passersby's and vendors with their hand trucks or dolly's.

The rim shows more damage cause by design its raised, which aides in the protection of the field. Thanks, Doug.
