Hello, Coin was off centered struck about 40% ish. I think it is as far as it can be off-centered without affecting the date. I know that collectors prefer to have the full date visible. It also shows some delamination which hopefully adds more value or is that normal with off-centered struck coins? I have another coin that is more off-centered, but all I can see is 19xx and no delamination and in better shape. I think this coin will be more preferred over the partial date of 19xx. But I will let the experts speak for it. Could you please help me with the grading and if it is worth sending this to a TPG to get it graded if it has some value?

Nice coin. I like the error type. I sort of doubt the having it graded - would be worth the cost/value relationships. It is clear what the error type is, and the grade can be assessed very narrowly, if you choose to sell it.
I wouldn't go through the expense of grading it. (Only an opinion)

Quote: It also shows some delamination which hopefully adds more value or is that normal with off-centered struck coins? What you are seeing is a split plating, which occurs when the copper plating is stretched too thin, and 'zinc rot.' These are not errors, and will decrease the value. The coin will continue to deteriorate, so, as I said in your other thread, I suggest selling it soon. Quote: I think it is as far as it can be off-centered without affecting the date. Well... If it was struck off center up and to the left, you could have everything but the 0 and part of the second 9 cut off. This is a decent off center strike, though. Could you please share some pictures of your other off center strike?

Thanks @Numisma. I will post the other coin tonight. I can already tell you that in terms of condition, the other coin has no split plating and it is over 50% off-centered. I just thought that if the date is cut-off, collectors weren't as interested? Boy, I hope I am wrong.

If the date is cut off, it's worth $5. My local coin dealer has had a AU-BU one in his case for months now priced at $5, and I'm not sure if it's sold yet. The 1990 that you posted I would give a grade of MS 60. Not at all worth slabbing.

Shame about the zinc rot. Still an interesting find.

61-62RD, not worth slabbing, these only sell for a few bucks.
