Went to the coin club tonight and my new friend whips out this monster. What a thrill!

How does one walk around with a 12k coin?

Very carefully. But when you've been to big shows where dealers have casually walked around showing off $100k+ coins, it's not that big of a deal, although they are usually insured, armed, guarded, or some combination thereof.

He took it out of his pocket, casually handed it to me and said check it out. I thought it was a common date coin from the 1940s. I was shocked when I looked at the date and checked the mintmark. He acted like it was a $40 coin.

It's my understanding that insurance companies will NOT insure coin dealers. Armed and guarded - Yes.
