Poll Question
So we all have our "go to" banks for getting our rolls and also those banks we like to avoid. With this in mind, which banks are most friendly to us hunting for good coins?

Things I would factor in would include the ability to order stuff like half dollars without getting charged an extra fee, long hours and availability on weekends, friendly tellers, and, of course, also not having problems with dumping coins.

In my local area, the two best banks I have dealt with are Wells Fargo and US Bank. How about the rest of you?

Poll Choices
 Wells Fargo
 US Bank
 PNC Bank
 TD Bank
 Union Bank
 Chase Bank
 CitiBank
 Bank of America
 Rabobank
 First Bank
 BB&T
 Ally Bank
Other (Large Bank not listed - please specify)
Other (Small Bank not listed - please specify)

As a note I believe it completely depends on the individual manager of the individual branch whether or not getting rolled coins would be easy or not.

Being sure your sister-in-law runs the branch is even more important.

I think corporate policies supersede what managers can do in a lot of cases though. Through personal experience, I know that the corporate policies at such banks as Bank of America, Chase, and CitiBank are pretty much set in stone.

When I closed out my Bank of America checking account the other day, I cited two things which clinched it: the fact that if you turn in more than $50 of rolled coins that they ship it off and then you have to wait 7-10 days for your account to be credited... and the fact that on Saturdays their hours are VERY limited - open only THREE hours at some locations and only four hours at the rest. In contrast, Wells Fargo and US Bank both are open seven hours on Saturdays, and have many open locations on Sundays. And it also didn't help that I've had multiple bad experiences with tellers at BofA. The person who took care of closing my account was very understanding, and said she would relay my concerns to corporate, but I'm sure they will fall on deaf ears - that's the BofA way.

I wish I had a perk such as that... way back in the day - after graduating from high school, two of my best friends there (and yes, we're still friends 30 years later) were tellers at a local Security Pacific Bank (eventually taken over by crappy Bank of America)... Sadly, I was only an occasional CRH back then.

I like my Wells Fargo. They will save me stuff and order (too many sometimes!) half dollars for me. Sometimes, even if I don't order, they will have a box waiting for me!

I have accounts with Investors Bank and Northfield Bank (both local banks with a handful of branches in the state) and they have coin counters, so dumping should not be a problem for either bank. However, I never CRH anymore but the banks are just as helpful with getting me new bills and bills with the Where's George stamp on them.

Same here. I've got a really good rapport with all of my local Wells Fargo branches - and I have two of them which order me halves. I've also had tellers there save me half dollars from customers, and even one saved me a Buffalo nickel she found.

It's nice to have good local banks... there's one called Montecito Savings with a few branches out here on the West coast that has some very friendly staff. Many local banks don't like to sell coins to non customers in my experience.

note: I use a large nationwide bank chain to order coins, and small, local banks and CUs to deposit rejects. In my area, this is important with regard to coin vaults/courier because I am able to avoid my own rejects by operating this way.

That's so funny. I do just the opposite... I get a ton of my CWR from the smaller banks - most don't have the vault space for big dumps. I do know my rejects are all bagged by my Wells Fargo dump bank and then shipped off to the big Los Angeles facility. The Wells branches out here typically use Brinks for their boxes of new stuff, and, as far as I know, they do the rolling independently of Wells.

John 77 and anyone else that uses us bank. There is one us bank that is pretty friendly in my area. They ordered half dollars for me for about 1 month. Then they said they had a message from the higher ups that they had to charge 5.25 per box. However , they let me buy boxes of nickels dimes pennies and just swap them out anytime I want. I use a small local bank in my area to orders coins. They also only have about 4 locations. They will order me whatever I want and are also pretty friendly. I don't know about you guys but it bothers me when a small branch can order whatever you want and then some with charge!! But you just have to keep Shopping !

I have one US Bank (the big one near me) I use as a dump bank as other local people also use it as a dump bank... I generally use all of the other US Banks (much smaller ones) around me as banks I buy rolls from as most of those are located within grocery stores and open 7 days a week. I get all of my halves from Wells Fargo...

I get some rolls from them about once a week... they seem pretty good.

John77 also forgot to ask if your us banks have coin counters. Out of the 7-8 around me none of them have one. I have to reroll them which isn't a big deal.
