it is called a Cud, a piece of the die broke away resulting in an un-struck area. the other side will have noticeable weakness or missing design opposite to the Cud due to there being no die to hold the metal in place and create pressure to strike the design. excellent find!

would there be any value to errors like this. heres a dime I found, it dont have any lettering on it and heres the 2005 kansas State Quarter. the T in trust is def. faded compared to he other letters, would this be considered the "in god we rust" error

to the forum! The dime is a struck through filled die error. The 2005 quarter looks normal to me. If the T were completely missing, it would qualify as a filled die error also. The Lincoln Cent is a Cud like was previously stated, those do carry a premium. Nice find! The 1964 Quarter is 90% Silver, that's worth hanging on to also!

The one on ebay is Buy it now BIN for $85.99 or best offer. Looks almost exactly like yours. A more realistic price is between $30.00 and $50.00

Nice find on the Cud penny, found in change yet! Been looking for errors like that through 500k plus pennies with no luck! Nice full large Cud too. The greased die dime is quite common among pennies and dimes, they do that to prolong life of dies before replacing and aligning for new die.
