Hello all. I'd appreciate feedback on this coin. I'm terrible at grading Lincolns, even with the assistance of PCGS Photograde. I'd like a number and color designation, please. (I'm bouncing between RB and RD, as I don't know the how spotty a coin can be. The spot on "of" on the reverse seems to be the worst one.) I'd appreciate a grade even if it's not a WAM, so I can learn how to grade Lincolns. Please let me know what flaws lead to the grade. Here's a close up to determine WAMmy-ness. The gap isn't great in the picture, but the FG looks good to me. Thanks!

I responded to you other post, hello again. If you've been cruzing the site I'm sure you've seen and used the search tab above. Many other previous threads on subject of grading, how to, w/ pics, etc. Really a great resource. Quick answer, circulated "zincoln" with beginnings of zinc rot. I wouldn't bee to concerned about assigning a RB designation on a circulated coin, mint type rolls is where these are found in uncirculated conditions. What you have grades XF50 maybe, its nothing special, a spender. Now, if it is a VAM, it becomes a keeeeper! There doesn't seem to be many reported, hence scarcity translates into $. Good luck!

WOW! Yes, that's a 1999 WAM! CONGRATS! These are VERY hard to find in the wild. Out of tens of thousands of coins searched over many years, I've found two and I consider myself very lucky to have found those. I know searchers that have probably 2-3x my searching under their belt and not have found one. It does show signs of wear, AU-58. AU coins typically do not carry a color designation with any of the TPG's. However, it's safe to say this is red-brown. I think your light is cutting through the patina a little.

ANACS is having a special again $100 for 10 coins, 14 coins if you're an insider (subscribe to their mailings). If you have enough coins, I'd drop this in and hope you get MS-62. The TPG's seem pretty forgiving with modern memorials, the threshold to AU is surprisingly high. I found this one searching, I thought it to be 64RD and NGC slabbed it 65RD.

@CrazyB0 It's been confirmed as a WAM! Is there any conservation I should do? (I didn't want to go with the other C word, "cleaning.) I've seen warm water/toothpick and acetone mentioned as possible methods, but don't want to harm it. Also, could you clarify -- did you mean EF40 or AU50? (Sorry for nitpicking!) @BadThad Thanks! I'm signed up with ANACS, but haven't received any promotional emails yet. I also definitely don't have that many coins worth submitting, so I may have to grab some more rolls today. I just picked up some boxes of halves yesterday, but found nada. Best out of that denomination was a 1982 no FG that probably won't score AU, so probably not worth submitting. Yours is beautiful! I wish mine was even close to that. One question though: you said AU58, but submit and hope for MS62. Wouldn't TPGs use a lower MS number first, or is the MS62 a hail mary? Thanks!

Your coin requires NO conservation, leave it alone. I don't think it'd grade any higher than 62, outside chance at 63 but I doubt it. I see enough to make me think it has just a touch of wear, so 58 is realistic IMO.

Thanks again Thad. I might have been unclear when asking. I'd definitely be satisfied with AU58, and I would be thrilled with an MS grade. I was asking why they wouldn't use MS60 or MS61 instead of jumping to MS62. I now understand that the MS62 would be a best case scenario. I'll call them later about a single coin submission.
